Bunny Kingdom Play Session – The Awesome Family Strategy Game

Intro To Bunny Kingdom

Description

Peace has come at last to the great Bunny Kingdom! Lead your clan of rabbits to glory by gathering resources and building new cities across the land! Draft cards and pick the right ones to position your warrens on the 100 squares of the board, provide resources to your colonies, build new cities to increase your influence, and plan your strategy to score big at the end of the game. Settle in lakesides or fields to collect water and grow carrots, gather mushrooms in the green forest, and climb the highest mountains to discover rare and precious resources…

Secretly rally rabbit lords and recruit skillful masters to make your cities and resources even more valuable at the end of the game. After each turn, your groups of contiguous warrens grant you points depending on the cities and different resources they include. The game ends after 4 rounds, and the player with the most points wins the game.

Bunny Kingdom – Play Session Report

A friend of mine bought bunny kingdom a few months back. He has been begging us to get it to the table. Friday the 18th of December, my friend, my girlfriend, and I finally got it to the table. My girlfriend plays board games from time to time but is quite honest in saying if she did not enjoy a game or not. She loved bunny kingdom though and has even asked to play it again.

It is super simple to teach. You can be up and playing within 10 minutes. That includes setup and a quick rules overview. In this initial playthrough, we failed to notice that picking up the building cards seemed rather important. Our friend won owing to this strategy, but even so, there were only about 12 points in it right at the end.

It is a slow buildup in the beginning points-wise. So don’t worry if you are not scoring the initial scoring rounds. What you do need is a strategy early on, and stick to that. My strategy was to try and achieve my parchment cards. That could be producing 7 carrots by game end, or having at least 5 fiefs, etc. I think this is a game that can be lost fairly early on if you cannot decide and stick to your strategy.

We had fun placing out bunnies and trying to see if we could stop what the other person was doing. Sometimes it really helps to break up other players’ high scoring fiefs by destroying their camps. So there is definitely a little take that but in very small doses. Just the right amount for those that do not like conflict.

Moving forward I want to take down notes during my sessions and bring more in-depth sessions reports.
